Learning Outcomes

1. Students understand about the Blue Rebellion.

2. Students understand   the conditions of peasants who were growing indigo.

3. Students develop the spirit of patriotism.

4. Students appreciate the combined efforts of the Zamindars and the indigo cultivators to rebel against the planters.

5. Students will develop the qualities such as team work and confidence.

6. Students will believe in unity.

 

Description Of Activity

1. Take children to the playground to play the game “Tiger and the Goat”. This is named as    Planters and Peasants.

2.Divide the children into two groups.

3. The peasant and zamindar group is big and the planter group is small.

4. Peasants and zamindars group form a circle.

5. Planters, gomasthas and lathiyals are made to stand outside. 

6. On their T-shirt’s the words like gomasthas, lathiyals and planters are written.

7. Two peasants are made to stand inside the circle.

8. Peasants will sing the song like “we will not let you inside, we will not grow indigo anymore.”

9. When peasants sing the song the planters send the lathiyals inside.

10. The peasants who have formed the circle will not allow them to come inside and attack the two peasants.

11.The lathiyals when they come inside with difficulty, the peasants all together join and attack.

12. In this game if the planters take peasants out of the circle then they will get the points, but to gain the points it is difficult as all the peasants can join together and attack.

13. If planters cannot take any peasants out then peasants will get points and they are declared as the winners.

Variations

1. Tiger and the Goat is named as Peasants and Planters.

2.  Peasants and zamindars together are given the right to attack the planter including gomasthas and lathiyals .

Coaching Tips

1.Teacher will narrate the Blue rebellion to the students.

2. Students are given the work to write the words like gomasthas , lathiyalas and planters on a piece of paper.

3. Students are given instructions that if the planter, lathiyals or the gomasthas enter and try to catch the peasant, then all peasants can attack the planter, lathiyals and gomasthas.

4. Points will be given to those who catch.

5. Students will not injure anyone.

 

Equipment/Material Required

 1. Chalk powder to make a circle.
