Learning Outcomes

1) To know the meaning of motion and speed.

2) To understand the defination of speed and how to calculate.

3) To compare the speed of two or more vehicles.

4) To know the SI unit of speed.

Description Of Activity

1) Take a student/class on ground.

2) Make the three groups.

3) Use the 100 meter runninig track, mark the starting point and end point.

4) Ask 5 students to stand on running track at the starting point and other five students will note down the time of the runner.

5) Third group will calculate the speed of 5 students.

6) After getting the result we can compare the speed of the student who is fast and slow.

7) Likewise we can interchange the student to do this activity in such a way that all will get the chance to run, to record the time and to calculate the speed from data.

Variations

We can use the running track and road in the city.

Coaching Tips

Every student should start the running at the same time. Note the time correctly at the end point. 

Equipment/Material Required

Stop watch, measuring tape, paper, ball pen, white powder for marking 100 meter track on ground, rope, whistle bell, etc.
