Bean Bag Balancing on Shoulder

Learning Outcomes

  • Experiment with different ways of tossing and then catching a bean bag with control
  • Demonstrate underhand toss to hit a target with a bean bag.

Description Of Activity

Wrap Up: (2 minutes) What was the objective of your class? Can you tell me the shape of the beanbag? Color of beanbag?

Students place a bean bag gently on one shoulder.

Stand tall with eyes looking forward.

Begin walking slowly from the start line to the finish line without dropping the bean bag.

Keep shoulders steady and avoid sudden movements.

Switch to the other shoulder on the next attempt.

Variations

Speed Walk: Walk slightly faster without dropping the bean bag.

Balance Path: Walk on a marked line or zig-zag lane.

Freeze: Teacher calls “Freeze!” — students stop without letting the bean bag fall.

Shoulder Switch: Midway, students switch the bean bag from right shoulder to left shoulder.

Backwards Walk: Walk backward slowly while balancing (for higher classes).

Relay Race: Team relay while balancing the bean bag.

Equipment/Material Required

  • Four cones for boundaries (same color).
    Spot marker for every kid.
  • Music Player & pen drive.
  • 1 bean bag per student
  • Set-Up
  • Students scattered in the activity area, each with a bean bag.
