1.Children will learn to measure distances using measuring tape.
2.While measuring children will have physical exercises like bending, stretching etc
3.Children will be able to find ratio of two physical quantities of same units.
4.Chidren will infer that equivalent ratio of a given ratio is obtained by multiplying or dividing both the terms of the given ratio by the same number.
5.Children will be able to find equivalent ratio of a given ratio.
6.Children will acquire the knowledge of different units in which distance can be measured.
1.Divide the children into 5 groups each group consisting of 6 to 8 members.
2. Assign the work of measuring the length and breadth of courts of different games to each of the groups.(One court to each group).
3.Ask the students to measure length and breadth of each court in meters and also centimeters.
4.Then ask the students to find the ratio of length to breadth when measured in meters and also when measured in centimeters.
5.Children will infer that the two ratios are about the length and breadth of the same court, they are equal.
6.Teacher then explains the students that such ratios are called equivalent ratios. Equivalent ratios are obtained by multiplying or dividing both the terms of the ratios by the same number.
11. Children can be asked to measure the length and breadth of each court in feet and inches and they can be asked to find the ratio of length to breadth in each case.(When measured in feet and also when measured in inches.)
22. Length and breadth of courts can also be measured in feet and Yards.
1.After children measured the length and breadth of each court, it should be verified whether children measured them exactly or not.

Students be acquainted with the standard dimensions of the courts/fields of various games/sports being considered for measurement. 4. Tabular formats may be devised to record the data .Each team will record the various dimensions in the format. 5.Students can also be asked to measure the dimensions in terms of their steps/jumps/ hops skips etc. and record the same in tabular form. 6. Data collected may be used to compare the various dimensions of a court/field or even with ratios of the dimensions of courts of various games. 7. Data collected may processed, organised and analysed with active participation of all students to achieve the desired LOs. | Rachna | delete edit |
