Description Of Activity

Activity:

1.       Teacher can take the students to the sports room or can use power point to show images of sports equipment’s that is used for different games and sports activities that is used for used for playing indoor or outdoor games different games. Teacher may show the following equipment’s and may ask the students to identify the plane figures and solid figures.

1.      Teacher announces about the shuttle race that will be conducted in the ground.  Teacher may divide the students(40) in group of 4 by making them stand in the circle and ask the students to count 1,2,3,4 ,5,6,7,8,9,10 and repeat the same in a circle .Then teacher will ask the students to make group of one’s, two’s and so on up to 10 ,In this way  10 groups of four will be formed and then shuttle race  can be organized .

2.      Rules of the games will be announced in advance. Students may also be involved to organize the race along with Sports Teacher.

RULES FOR CONDUCT OF SHUTTLE RELAY RACE

·       a)  Participants will be divided into groups of four

·       b) Lottery will be drawn for the positions they will stand in file.

·       c) Each group will stand in a ‘File’ behind the starting line.

·        d)Teacher in advance will announce 1st candidate of each group will have to bring plane object,2nd will have to bring solid and so on.

·       e) On the whistle/ teacher’s command 1st candidate of each group will run, get one object numbered 1  and second member ,object 2 and so on and also each member will write whether it is plane figure or solid figure on the paper kept from behind the end line and run back to their team and touch the candidate of thei team.

·      f)  She/he will touch the next candidate and then will stand at the back of his/her team

·       g) On the touch of 1st candidate, the 2nd candidate will start run and same will be repeated till the fourth candidate complet

h     h) the fourth participant will bring the paper back to the starting point

·        h)All the four participants after identifying the four specific objects and will  stand in a line as before.

·        i)The team which will finish earlier, will be the winner.

·       j) 10 points will be given for correct identification of objects. For position holder  in race points allotted for 1st,2nd.3rd and 4th position will be 10,7, 5 and 2 respectively.The team which scores higher will be the winner.

 

Variations

Sports equipment along with the other familiar plane or solid objects can be placed.

Number of objects to be identified may be increased and correspondingly number of members in the team may be increased.

Coaching Tips

1.Separate shuttle race to be organised for girls and boys.

2.Children can be encouraged for preparing field ,organising and maintaining discpline.

3. Children may be rewarded.

Equipment/Material Required

Measuring tapes ,rope ,lime powder 

Ball,baton.kite,circular disc,dice ,ludo board,chess board, books ,cones,objects having pyramid shape etc
