Learning Outcomes

Students will be able to understand the different types of resources such as natural, human made and human resources. They will be able to recognize everything in their surroundings as a resource. They will be able to understand which value makes something to get identified as a resource.

Description Of Activity

Recommended sport is rock climbing/ trekking in the risk-free zones nearby. Students of hilly terrains are naturally inclined to rock climbing. With all the protective equipment, they can be taken for a short rock climbing programme where there will be chances enough for interaction with nature and  a provision to stop by a small pool where they can freshen up or take rest for a while. Then the teacher would identify the pool-water as a natural resource. The rope, cords, webbing and carabiners used will be identified as human made resources. The students will help each other in climbing up and down. They will be identified as human resources.

Variations

Rock climbing can be replaced with hide and seek in the vidyalaya garden.

Coaching Tips

The students should be able to understand that these activities are not mere activities but a way to get acquainted with natural, human made and human resources and their utility and value.

Equipment/Material Required

Helmets, .rope, cords, webbing and carabiners and the natural resources like mountains and water. Plants and bushes will be identified as natural resources. Children will identify themselves as human resource. And the concrete slides used for hiding will be identified as human made resource.
