Learning Outcomes

Students will able to understand how women in the pat faced so much discrimination and now by raising awareness and campaigns led to passing of new laws against domestic violence, mental violence, sexual violence and for safeguarding from atrocities and gender discrimination.

Description Of Activity

A big circle consisting of 20 boys students will be formed representing as War Zone and just outside to it will be the Freedom; Liberty Zone. In between the War Zone and Freedom/ Liberty Zone, few laws such as Domestic Violence Act 2005, Dowry Prohibition Act 1961, Sexual Harassment of women at work place 2013, POCSO(Protection of Children from Sexual harassment 2012)etc. will be written or can be represented by 5 girls. Inside the War Zone SOCIAL HARASSMENT elements can be written such as sexual violence, mental violence, gender discrimination, economically weaker groups, dowry child marriage, child labour, illiterate, wastage/stag nation, divorce, child trafficking etc. or can be represented by girls students writing the above mentioned names on a piece of paper and pasted on their backs.

Now those who are inside the War Zone, will try to come out to the Freedom/Liberty Zone by challenging the ring/wall of Attrocities which were represented by 20 boys. By facing a lots of struggles, the socially harass groups represented by girls tried to escape from the ring/wall of Attrocities by challenging the society through appropriate laws which were represented by 5 girls. At-last some of the socially harass group manage to escape to the Freedom/Liberty Zone. Still some sections of the socially harass are inside the War Zone.

This game shows that women now in modern days are protected certain laws as compared to the past but still a long way to go to achieve the desire targets in terms of equality between Men and Women in every field of life.

Variations

In the earlier/period there were so many socially harass groups and elements among women but with the legal protection women have attained a new Freedom/Liberty of life in the society.

The 5 girls representing the appropriate laws can be changed by another group of girls in the next round of activity

Coaching Tips

PE teachers will help the students to draw the big circle of War Zone and Freedom/Liberty Zone. In between them the ring/wall of Attrocities zone can be used by different colours.
