Learning Outcomes

Description Of Activity

1-Two baskets are required say basket  A and  basket B.

2- Basket A will be placed at one corner of ground and basket B will be placed at other corner of ground,  which  is 100 metre apart from Basket A.

3- In basket A , teacher will put 20 chits with number  11 to 30.

4- In basket B teacher  will put  50 chits with different numbers ( including cubes of the numbers written on the chits in basket  A) . It means  in basket B there will be 20 chits  with cube of the numbers  which are written on the chits of basket A and remaining 30 chits with other different numbers (excluding above said 20 cube numbers).

5- Teacher  will select  10 students of class 8th to participate in this activity at a time.

6- Each student ask  to pick a chit from basket A and read the number loudly and run towards basket B ( 100 metre apart from basket A) and after searching, pick that chit from basket B, in which cube of that number is written. After taking this chit, student will run back to the basket A near teacher.

                        In this activity time should be given to each student will be 10 minutes only.

7- The student who will be able to reach at starting point within minimum time, he/she will win the game

Variations

Students also learn about different methods to find the cube of any number.  They can given home assignment to write some more numbers and their cubes.


Coaching Tips

Encourage the students to give more examples of perfect cubes numbers by giving them task to find volumes of different solid cubes with given sides.

 Plain paper,  a pen and two baskets.
