Activity
Number line,Dice & Product of Integers.
(1)Drawing a line using white lime and writing numbers in equal intervals or putting number cards will give a clear-cut concept of number line.
(2)Product of two positive integers is always a positive integer.
(3)Product of two negative integers is always a positive integer.
(4)Product of one positive integer and one negative integer is always a negative integer.
(5)Moving from left to right side of a number line always gives greater numbers.
(6)Moving from right to left side of a number line always gives smaller numbers.
How to Play-
(1) 40 students will be divided into 2 groups(20-20) and leaders will be selected from each group.
(2)Two leaders & some members of the group will play the game and rest students will co-operate them in calculation.
(3)In the field numbers from -100 to 100 will be written/number cards will be placed at -100,-99,-98........98,99,100.
(4)Take a bag containing two blue dice and two red dice. Number of dots on blue dice indicate positive integers and number of dots on the red dice indicate negative integers.
(5) Every playrer will place his/her counter at zero.
(6)Each player will take out two dice at a time from the bag randomly and through them.
(7)After every through the player has to multiply the numbers marked on the dice.
(8)If the product is a positive integer then the player will move his/her counter towards 100 and if the product is a negative integer then the player will move his/her counter towards -100.
(9)The group which reaches either 100 or -100 first will be the winner.
(1)They can be encouraged to try out by taking three dice of different colours(red, blue & yellow) and find the product of three integers.
(2)They can be given home assignments taking one dot on each dice as zero and find out the product of integers with zero.
(1)Students may be use the Kho-Kho field for their reference.
(2)Using measuring tapes or ropes and white lime they would learn how to draw straight lines.
(3)Different leaders from the groups may be choosen to boast the confidence of the students.
(1)Measuring tape
(2)Dice( different colours-red & blue )
(3)Rope

Instead 21 cone pegs or any other alternative marking equipment may be used to mark numbers -100, -90,-80,...0,+10,+20,....+80,+90,+100. the distance between these numbers be suitably marked to represent the numbers between them. 3.Students be divided into more even number of teams to have competitions among themselves. 4.Students be involved in the preparation of the field for the activity and also in the process of collection, organising and analysis of the data to achieve the desired LOs. 5.Suitable activities like loco motor and manipulative body movements or animal walks etc. be conducted for reaching the desired place on the number line. 6.Tabular formats be devised to record the data pertaining to academics and sports. | Rachna | delete edit |
