WEAR THE SWEATER RACE

Learning Outcomes

1. Understand the concept of secondary sexual chracters.

2. Identify the changes in the body due to production of sex hormones.

3. Co-relate the role of hormones with changes in the body.

4. Streching and bending

 

Description Of Activity

1. Teacher conduct 200 m race making groups.

2. The race track must be made of 100m.

3. The students will reach th emark of 100m where there will be kept sweaters of junior class students.

4. The students after reaching the 100m mark has to wear the sweater and then come back to the finishing line. He/She must wear the sweater completely and then start the 2nd phase of running.

5. Volunteers make be kept at the other end where the sweater are kept to check whether each athlete follow the rules or not. Any one found guilty will be disqualified.

6. Volunteers will also note down who reaches the 100m point 1st.

7. The teacher will note down who finishes the race 1st.

8. After completion of the event, the teacher can ask question to the students who reaches the 100m marks earlier but finishes the race late regarding his late finish.

9. Later teacher can co-relate the change in body shape (widening of shoulders and broadening of chest) accompanied with adolescence. He can also explain the factors resposnile for such changes.

10. Further, teacher can enlist more changes in secondary sexual characters due to secretion of sex hormone.

 

Variations

In place of 200 m race, teacher can opt for relay race where in place of stick, they have to exchnage sweater/ tracksuit among each another at the exchange point.

Coaching Tips

Teacher must motivate the studetns to follow the rule.
