100 Meter Race with Pinwheel toy

Learning Outcomes

Students will be able to:

Understand that white light of Sun is consists of seven colours.

Describe the dispersion of light. 

Make Pinwheel toy with seven rainbow colour papers.

Develop team work.

Description Of Activity

Students of class VIII are assembled on the playground.

Students are divided into 8 groups and each group consists of 5 students and each group will select captain, who will participate in 100 mt race with Pinwheel.

2 students of each group will make a Pinwheel with paper and other 1 student of each group will mark the starting and ending point on 100 meter running track. 

Caption of each group will participate in 100 mt race with Pinwheel.

Rest of the students who have made Pinwheel and marked track, watch this race and observe the colour of Pinwheel during running which is actually bade bhai 7 colours but it looks only of one colour i.e. white.

Student will understand that white colour is made by 7 colours through this running competition. This phenomenon is known as dispersion of light.

Variations

Size of group may be vary depending upon class strength.

200 meter race may be conducted in place of 100 meter race.

Coaching Tips

Teacher can easily explain the concept of sunlight- white or coloured.

Encouraging students to play safety and under the supervision of teachers.

Students are encouraged to enjoy the game and also learn the concept of true sportsman spirit.
