BLIND FOLDED

Learning Outcomes

1. Able to understand how visually impaired people can read and write.

2. To know challenges faced by visually impaired people in daily life.

4. Able to fine tune senses of their body alongwith coordination skill.

 

 

Description Of Activity

First level: 

1. Class would be divided in 8 groups (total strength 40 students). Each group consists of 6 members. There will be 3 levels in this activity.

2. One participant from each team (at a time) is blind folded and made to cross an area of around 15x15 ft from one end to other with full of water glasses. Blind folded person has to cross and reach the other side without stepping on the glasses.

3. Supporting team members would guide the participant in the right direction. In this activity blind folded person would have to concentrate on his/her hearing senses. Those team which successfully complete this task, would advance to next level. 

Second level: 

1. One participant from each selected team is blind folded and there would be 4 baskets in front of him. One basket is filled with 3 different shapes of objects viz, cube, spherical and triangle and other 3 baskets are empty. Blind folded student would have to segregate these objects in different 3 baskets, according to their shapes. In this activity participant would hone its sense of touch.

2. Time would be noted down. The team which successfully completes this task in minimum time, will advance to final round. 

Final level: 

1. In this final round top three performing teams would participate. Game starts as buzzer goes off. 

2. There will be three holes (15 meters away) from the starting point. One participant would be blind folded at a time and will carry hockey stick and try to move the ball with this stick. Team members would guide him/her to reach the target. 

3. The team which reaches the target in less time will be declared as winner. (Enhances the use of hearing sense)

 

 

Variations

Different activities can be performed on the basis of availability of space and students interest.

 

Coaching Tips

 

Students should be guided and instructed to perform this activity safely.

Practice of these activities will be done.

Students are encouraged to enjoy these activities.

 

 

Equipment/Material Required

Coffee glasses, black ribbons, objects of different shapes, baskets, hockey sticks and balls etc.
