Activity
1. Students will be able to identify and understand a line plot.
2. Students will be able to produce a line plot from a given data set.
3. Students will be able to read and interpret data presented on a line graph.
Plotting the points on the XY – plane and joining them to get a line graph.
This activity we can do it on the ground.
Let us draw two mutually perpendicular number lines on the ground as shown in the figure. ( use measuring tape , rope and powder )

1. Group the pupils into four.
2. Each group should have 5 pupils .
3. Explain how to plot points on the XY - plane.
4. Let the pupils identify the figure by plotting the mark that the teacher will announce .
5. As soon as the last point is plotted on XY – plane , one of the group member will then connect all the marks on the graph.
6. The team who can identify first the figure formed correctly is the winner.
7. Teacher has announce ordered pair points for every participants of each group.
For example : points ordered pairs
1. A (5 , 3) 2 . B( 8, 5 ) 3. C ( 4, 5 )
4. D ( 6 , 2 ) 5 . E(5 , 5 ) 6 .F ( 7, 4 )
Concept of drawing simple line graph on XY plane/ Cartesian plane

1) Variations may be made by Choosing different quadrants .
2) The same activity can be do it for two teams to draw double line graph.
1. Marking the points properly with the guidance of teacher .
2. Use of line graph in different fields like sports, markets ,industry growth ,etc
Rope , Ground measuring tape, different coloured stones ( items) or white cement powder.

Tabular formats be devised to record the data of each team and individuals. 4. Students be acquainted with the sporting skills required for better performance in the activity. 5. Students be involved in the collection, organisation and analysis of data to achieve the LOs. | Rachna | delete edit |
