Description Of Activity
- Handball upper pass rule
The upper pass is one of the basic technical elements of handball. This type of pass must be accurate, fast and tactically competent. - Stage one
Stand shoulder width apart, sideways on to the target, on the balls of your feet with the weight transferred to the back foot.
The throwing arm is held high and taken back behind the head at a 90 angle.
Point the non-throwing arm at the target. - Stage two
Transfer the weight from your back foot to your front foot by rotating your hips and torso toward the target.
Pull the throwing arm through toward the target leading with your elbow and your forearm and wrist following last and fast.
Release the ball just in front of your head with both feet on the ground and the chest facing the target.
Follow through with your throwing arm pointing toward the target
How to play
- The class will be divided into convenient groups separately for boys and girls ( two groups each) for conducting handball match or throwing ball game
- They play the passing game and the team which throws the ball at the goal post within the stipulated time
- Based on the time taken by each team will get the points.
- It has to be noted that the team which takes less time to hit the ball at the goal post will get more points.
- The game will be played for 10-15 minutes.
- Two students can be assigned the duty of noting the time duration
- Then the teacher explains that buckets of water are passed speedily from the well or pond to the blaze to extinguish fire
Variations
- Instead of running speedily and asking the students to pass the ball, they can be asked to stand in circles or line to pass the ball fast and hit the ball at the goal post.It can be played using a ring also by running around or standing in circles.
Coaching Tips
- Safety of the participants is very important
- First Aid box should be kept with the teacher
