Description Of Activity

How to Play

  1. Students have already gone through the lesson and have understood the concept. Now through "I went Shopping Game/ Chain Game they will be framing the answers with  excitement and fun .
  2. A leader is chosen for every round (students should not be repeated and the teacher should check that everyone gets a chance). The leader reads aloud the question and runs to touch one of the players as soon as she or he touches the other player, she or he tells one key point or an idea or a part of the answer. If the later fails to do it the player is out for that particular round. If the player tells the key point then both of them run together (holding their hands), to touch the other person to get the remaining parts of the answer or ideas. One player tells only one key point. The round continues until the complete answer or all the key points are obtained. At last the leader once again reads out the question and frames the answer using all the key points.
  3. In this game each player can repeat everything that has been said before. This may help the late bloomers to catch the content. This game is easy to play, because the rules are simple and do not need much explanation at the start of the game. Since the language content is usually restricted to certain words or sentence types, they are suitable for slow learners with a limited command on English language (which is not their mother tongue). To keep the chain game interesting and exciting it should be played quickly taking proper care of the safety of the students. Anyone who fails to answer will be given chance at the end of that particular round to repeat the answer and start the next round with a question. She or he can be the next leader.

Variations

  1. The class can be divided into three or four groups depending upon the strength of the class.
  2. The first player can ask a question and run to touch one of the other players and the later gives the answer to it. Now the second player asks a question and runs to touch the third player who gives the answer and asks another question.
  3. Then all the three run together holding each other’s hands to touch the next player. This round continues till all get chained. Anyone who fails to answer will be given chance to start the next round.
