Nitrogen Cycle

Learning Outcomes

Students will know the role of bacteria in fixing the nitrogen present in atmosphere to the usable form by plants.

And passing of the nitrogenous compound from plants to herbivores and carnivores.

And the role of bacteria and fungi present in the soil to convert nitrogenous wastes into nitrogenous compounds.

The role of certain bacterias that convert to nitrogen gas which goes back into the atmosphere. Thus, maintaining the percentage of nitrogen in the atmosphere.

Description Of Activity

1. The 9 steps of nitrogen cycle will be printed out (4 copies each) and make into cards.

2. The card will be grouped unto 4 groups and in each group the card will be kept shuffle.

3. Student will be divided into four groups as Team A, Team B, Team C and Team D.

4. A team leader will be selected under the supervision of the teacher; The team leader will hand out the card to its team members.

5. Each of the team member will arrange among themselves to form the nitrogen cycle by arranging in the order according to the card that they got.

6. The team that arranged first and in the correct sequence will be declared as the winner.

Variations

Students can be given or ask to take a card each and to make the nitrogen cycle by searching or trying to fit the sequence of the nitrogen cycle among themselves.

Coaching Tips

The direction in which the students faced should be the direction of the flow of nitrogen.

No two students should not face each other.
