Description Of Activity

How to play

  1. Students will be divided into three teams.
  2. Team A: 5 players (farmer). They would be wearing yellow color t-shirt.
  3. Team B: 5 players (weeds). They would be wearing red color t-shirt.
  4. Team C: 5 players (crop). They would be wearing green color t-shirt.
  5. Team C would not be awarded with any point but they will join the Victory ceremony if farmer team wins.
  6. Students would be categorized as per the body weight as: under 35kg, under 40kg, under 45 kg, under 50 kg, under 55 kg and under 60 kg.
  7. Students falling under a certain weight category will form a team and compete with the same weight category of the opponent team.
  8. Strategies can be made to involve all the students of the class by forming many teams.
  9. This sport event may continue for a week or so.
  10. The sport event is divided into two periods of 2 minute each.
  11. The competing students face each other on a circular mat, 8 m in diameter, with the primary objective of pinning the opponents shoulders to the circular mat for a short duration of time,  that hands the student player an instant victory by fall.

Activity:

  1. Each member of the two teams will go one at a time to the circular mat and perform the activity.
  2. A member of farmer team will come inside the circular mat and will try to take down the opponent players (weed) to the mat and control him/her. (Attacking point).
  3. [This shows uprooting/cutting at the base of weeds by the farmer. As the farmer team gets the points, a member of the crop team will stand up and wave his/her hands exhibiting proper growth of the crop].
  4. One point is given to the farmer player team for getting away out of the mat when the opponent takes him/her down on the mat. (Folk style Wrestling match escape point).
  5. [This happens when weeds are very deep rooted. Moreover, some of them are poisonous and hurts our hand which makes the farmer unable to remove the weed from the mat].
  6. Two points is given to the farmer team when the opponent team (i. e., team weed) take the farmers down the mat and the farmer come out and gain control of the opponent (team weed). (Folk style Wrestling reversal point).
  7. [This happens when weeds are very deep rooted. However, when more force is applied, the weeds can be uprooted. As the farmer team gets the points, a member of the crop team will stand up and wave his/her hands exhibiting proper growth of the crop].
  8. Two or three points are given to the farmer team when the farmer almost but not quite get the opponent pinned. If the near fall last for two seconds, then the farmer team gets 2 points. If the near fall lasts for 5 seconds, the farmer team gets 3 points. (Folk style Wrestling near fall point).
  9. [This shows spraying of weedcides to control weeds by the farmer. This can be represented well if the farmer team member wears a t-shirt with spraying equipment printed/drawn on it. The farmer team member should also wear a mask. As the farmer team gets the points, a member of the crop team will stand up and wave his/her hands exhibiting proper growth of the crop].
  10. The opponent (weed team) is rewarded one or two points if the farmer team commits the following infractions.(Folk style Wrestling penalty point).
  11. The first and second time the farmer team member is penalized, the opponent team (weed team) is awarded 1 point.
  12. [As the weed team gets 1 point, a member of the crop team will bend down his/her body exhibiting improper growth of the crop].
  13. The third time the farmer team member is penalized, the opponent team is awarded 2 points.
  14. [As the weed team gets 2 point, a member of the crop team will squat exhibiting improper growth of the crop].
  15. The fourth time the farmer team member is penalized, the member is disqualified.
  16. [As the member of the farmer team is disqualified, a member of the crop team will sit exhibiting death of the crop. Further, the crop member is removed from its team].
  17. 10. Penalty will be given if -Both shoulders are held for two seconds within four inches of the mat.
One shoulder touches the mat and the other shoulder is at a 45 degree angle coming down to the mat.
For illegal holds which are potentially dangerous.
Technical violation like going off the mat or forcing the opponent off the mat. Grabbing clothing or headgear.
    Unnecessary roughness
    Unsportsmanlike conduct
The points are tallied and the team with more points is declared the winner. The points are tallied and the team with more points is declared the winner.

Variations
