Activity
Develop control while dribbling with dominant and non-dominant hand
Improve hand–eye coordination and ball handling
Practise keeping head up while dribbling
Strengthen footwork, balance, and body control
Build confidence moving with the ball in different directions
Each student starts in a safe, open space with a basketball.
Teacher demonstrates basic dribbling cues:
Use fingertips, not palm
Keep ball at waist height
Stay low with knees bent
Eyes up, not on the ball
Students begin stationary dribbling, then progress to moving dribbles.
As the activity “builds,” teacher adds new challenges:
Dribble while walking
Dribble with left hand
Dribble with right hand
Change directions
Stop & start
Speed dribbles
Students keep the ball under control while avoiding others.
Cone Path Dribble: Zig-zag through cones
Low–High Dribble: Alternate low dribbles and high dribbles
Crossover Dribble: Switch hands while moving
Freeze Dribble: On teacher’s signal freeze the ball under control
Dribble Tag: Students dribble while avoiding being tagged
